Nana Couffie

Ready to Serve – Now and For Ever

Nana Couffie comes from Côte d’Ivoire. He, his wife Sita and their young son were refugees from the civil war that erupted there in September 2002. Driven to leave when their home and business were destroyed, the three undertook a long, dangerous journey, northwards to Europe. In 2003 they ended up in Traiskirchen, the huge former barracks, built in the 19th century, that is Austria’s main refugee hostel. Located about 30km south of Vienna, it is officially supposed to hold about 900 refugees. In fact, it holds more than 1,400, many from West Africa and from the former Yugoslavia.

While in Traiskirchen, Nana went to a ministry centre for refugees run by International Teams (IT) to get some warm clothing. At that stage he knew nothing about its Christian connection.

Today, Nana and Sita are full-time team leaders with International Teams (the first refugees to fill these roles). They provide pastoral support and lead fellowship gatherings, as well as offering the refugees meals, counselling and German classes.

Since Nana became an ITeams missionary in 2003, he is much in demand for his advocacy and his untiring efforts to support and sustain refugees from all over the world. The Fellowship of Christian Refugees (FCR), which he established and leads, now has branches - led by refugee christian leaders - spread throughout the 9 states of Austria.

Nana and Sita live by faith and rely on support and donations. If you would like to make a regular donation directly to Nana and Sita please contact us and we will help set it up.

The Woodland Trust

The Woodland TrustSupporting tree planting through the Carbonplus+ scheme

Trainerpool is supporting The Woodland Trust, the UK's leading woodland conservation charity. In 2007 Trainerpool's financial contribution was responsible for the planting of 100 Carbonplus+ trees which will offset all carbon dioxide emissions from the company's business activities for the year.

By supporting tree planting across the UK, businesses like Trainerpool help to create valuable woodland that will grow to sequester (absorb and store) CO2 pollution and in doing so, help with the fight against climate change.

In addition to the environmental benefits of absorbing atmospheric carbon as they grow and mature, woodland provides a rich and important habitat valued by wildlife and people alike.
